Turn Training into
High School Credits

Train 5+ hours a week? Your competitive training may qualify toward Ontario high school physical education and art credits

through Rutherford Private School.

THE PROBLEM:

competitive students are not beginners

A competitive dancer, martial artist, soccer player or performer already develops learning skills, mental discipline and body skills through serious training. For many students, regular PE class does not match the level of skill they are already practicing every week.

Time Pressure

Training, school, commuting, homework and recovery compete for the same limited hours.

Higher-level skill

Students may already train above the physical activity level expected in a standard school setting.

Credit checkmark

The goal is not to avoid learning. The goal is to recognize meaningful training and document it properly.

OUR SOLUTION:

Credit Real Training

Rutherford Private School helps student athletes and dancers understand whether previous or ongoing competitive training can be documented, reviewed and connected to an Ontario high school credit pathway.

STEP 1:

Student or parent books a consultation with RPS guidance.

STEP 2:

Training schedule, coaching history and evidence are reviewed.

STEP 3:

RPS explains the eligible credit pathway and documentation requirements.

STEP 4:

Approved work can support the student’s transcript/report card process.

CHOOSE YOUR PATHWAY:

Whether you are an individual family or a training centre, the goal is simple: make serious training count toward a smarter school schedule.

Ontario students also need online learning credits

For many student athletes, online credits are a natural fit because they already need flexible scheduling around training and competitions.

Important Ministry requirement

Ontario students who entered Grade 9 in the 2020–2021 school year or later are generally required to earn at least two online learning credits as part of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, unless they opt out through the permitted process.

RPS Message: If your child already has a demanding training schedule, choosing appropriate online credits can help meet graduation requirements while protecting training time, recovery time and academic focus.

Question Parents and Training Centres ask:

Can my child’s sport, dance or martial arts training become a high school credit?

Experience seamless statistical analysis with our expert tools and guidance. Simplify complex data interpretation, make informed decisions, and achieve accurate insights effortlessly. Streamline your workflow for efficient results.

Who is eligible for athletic training credit evaluation?

The program is designed for student athletes and performers who train consistently in activities such as dance, martial arts, gymnastics, skating, swimming, soccer, hockey, volleyball, or other organized sports. Students who train regularly with qualified coaches or instructors and demonstrate ongoing skill development may be eligible for evaluation.

What documents are needed for a training credit evaluation?

Families should prepare any available evidence of the student’s training, including:

  • Weekly training schedule
  • Coach or instructor information
  • Training logs
  • Competition history
  • Performance videos
  • Certificates or rankings
  • Club or studio memberships
  • Assessment or progress reports
Can a dance studio, gym or soccer club partner with Rutherford Private School??

Yes. Training centres can discuss a partnership model that helps their students connect structured training with education planning and Ontario credit support.

Will this replace all school requirements?

No. This page is about creating a smarter credit pathway for eligible training experience. Students still need to meet Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements, including required credits, community involvement and literacy requirements.
